Growth, Goals and Good

When it comes to finding work that counts, Katie’s marketing career with Lessonly has gone above and beyond.

Lessonly provides software designed to help efficiently educate and prepare a team for the work they have ahead, so companies can get moving forward and so can their people. Their mission is “to help people do better work so they can live better lives,” and it’s that genuine person-centered motivation that Katie loves about working with them.

“There are not many for-profit companies that have such a personal mission statement,” she says, and keeping personal growth as the main priority, both of its own employees and also of those the software trains, makes working for Lessonly meaningful.

In fact, one of Katie’s favorite stories is of a woman working remotely from Kenya who was able to use the software to excel at her job enough to put in a clean well for her village. “Talk about changing the world!” says Katie, who finds her work with the company not only rewarding, but enjoyable.

As someone with a litany of passions, from time spent with family to playing tennis to singing at her church, Katie has found that Lessonly has given her work that has a real, human impact outside of the office. Work-life balance comes easily with Lessonly, because leadership takes a pragmatic view of what its employees need.

“Our culture is super flexible and understands that your personal life affects your work life, and vice versa,” she says, and the open, honest atmosphere she shares with her coworkers is a treasure. “Our employees truly care about helping each other succeed both personally and professionally.”

Human connection is a core value that Lessonly and Katie both share. Building a network on a foundation of trust has been one of her biggest guiding strengths. And using BoxUp’s platform means she can make each touchpoint with her customers more human and engaging.

Growing Lessonly’s presence and cultivating good client relationships keeps her creative. She loves boxing up fun things like the Llama Love Box, which comes with llama socks, champagne flutes and gummy bears and is sent to Lessonly customers.

“I like to pave my own path, with the support and help of others,” says Katie, who is driven to seek out challenges.

With people like Katie on board, it’s no surprise that Lessonly has been able to grow from one employee to eighty-five in just five years. Growth hasn’t corrupted Lessonly’s underlying motivation, however.

“The core of the business has stayed the same, and we’ve stayed true to our mission,” she says, no small feat in the face of such change.

Adding clients and expanding rapidly seem to only increase the potential good of Lessonly’s reach. At the end of the day, Katie does what she does to keep the world moving forward:

“I know that we’re doing something to positively affect others’ lives through our work.”
