Giving Back One Box at a Time

Stevie Boi, fashion designer and two-time survivor of breast cancer, is as passionate about fighting for a cure as he is about fashion. BoxUp is all about giving back anytime we can. Together, we recently launched a new series of patterns inspired by the Stevie Boi PINK collection. Through the end of October, 10% of each order featuring these patterns was donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. According to Stevie, “These patterns reflect the design of the PINK line and the passion of the Stevie Boi team to give back.”

While there are a lot of ways to give back, here are just a few subscription boxes that make it easy to get a little something special in your mailbox, while supporting your favorite cause.

1. The Bub Club Sub Box

If you’ve been following Lil BUB’s rise to fame, you already know this special cat is a published author, talk show host, movie star, and Billboard Topping artist. But in November Lil BUB launched a brand new subscription box. An advocate for homeless and special needs pets, Lil BUB has already raised $500,000 for animals in need. The “BUB CLUB” is a new opportunity to purchase BUB swag while raising money for homeless pets. This quarterly subscription box is available in four sizes, from “Lil” to “Galactic.” 20-40% from the purchase of each box benefits homeless pets, plus 5-10 bowls of food are donated to shelter pets.

2. Troopster

Troopster is a web-based, veteran-owned business where family and friends can purchase personalized military care packages online, including items deployed troops will use and appreciate. This for-profit business works together with the charitable arm, Troopster Donation Corp, to send free care packages to those without loved ones to send a package from home. Troops can request free care packages through their site, and 100% of the charitable donations received are used to buy and ship packages to these service members. All administrative costs incurred by this military charity are paid by the for-profit business, Troopster.

3. Books for the Future

This subscription box gives back in two ways. First, Books for the Future sends you 10 gently used, age appropriate kids books each month, recycling books and saving them from landfills. In addition, for every book you and your child receive, one book is donated to a child in need.

4. Collections by Joya

Collections by Joya is a monthly subscription box featuring a curated selection of jewelry and accessories handcrafted by talented women artisans around the world. A portion of each sale goes directly to women’s charities close to home and around the globe, and Joya also supports the needs of women through outreach, events, and donations of Joya product. A small gift box is included with each subscription so you can share a little joy with women close to you.

5. Crate for a Cause

To recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September, Cratejoy offered a limited-edition box to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.¼ The box, filled with a variety of items from well known brands including Kendra Scott, tarte, Erin Condren, Magnolia, and more, sold out immediately. 100% of all sales ($75 per box) was donated to support the St. Jude mission.

6. The Dapper Dog Box

This monthly subscription box for dogs and dog parents includes toys, treats, chews and the occasional canine accessory. Treats are always 100% natural, made in the USA, and organic or grain free. Customization is also available for dogs with allergies or dietary restrictions. But perhaps the best part of the box is that a portion of the proceeds is donated to a different rescue organization every month.

7. Love With Food

Break out of the convenience store snack rut, and snack smart on organic, all-natural or gluten-free snacks. New and unique snack options are delivered to your door monthly, while a portion of the proceeds goes to fight childhood hunger in the US and globally. So far Love With Food has donated over one million meals nationwide.

8. Represent

Support a different cause each month with Represent. Each box features a new premium t-shirt (suitable for men or women) with a unique design that represents the Cause of the Month, along with a description of the charity. A portion of the subscription cost is donated to the monthly charity.
