Professional Logos for Websites and Offline Marketing

As a small business or new start-up, you know that having a visual brand is important, but investing a lot of money in graphic design may not be in the budget. The good news is that you don’t have to be an expert in graphic design to get a professional looking logo that can be used on your website, business cards, custom packaging and more. This article will walk you through seven websites you can use to develop a high-quality company logo on a moderate budget.

If you have an idea of what you want but need a simple way to design it and bring it to life, Canva may be the right option for your business. The best part is that Canva is free to use, unless you want to incorporate stock photography or some other premium features. But don’t worry – you can get a great quality logo without investing any money. Simply search for “logo” and you’ll see a lot of options to get you started. From there, you can tweak colors and designs until you have exactly what you want to represent your business. Canva.com

If you need some inspiration before committing to a design, Fiverr may be the right option. Through Fiverr, you can browse the work of many freelancers offering their services for $5 (and up.) Keep in mind that the logo designers who offer to design for $5 will likely just plug your business name into the templates shown on their profile – not design something from scratch. That can work if you find a template that suits your business, but you may need to spend a bit more if you want a logo designed specifically for you (and that is unique to your business.)

Fiverr can be an excellent place to find freelancers who can create a logo for a minimal cost – especially if you simply want a “placeholder” and plan to rebrand in a year or two when your business really takes off. Fiverr.com

Tailorbrands provides a great mix of having a logo designed for you and designing a logo yourself. Instead of working with a specific designer, Tailorbrands will actually match you with logo templates based on the nature of your business and your preferences. Once you choose a template to start with, you can tweak the font and colors to customize your logo and make it your own. This artificial intelligence approach can work well for many businesses – and the best part is that downloading your logo’s high-resolution files (the ones you’ll need to print signs, banners, t-shirts, and business cards) typically costs less than $20. Tailorbrands.com

FreeLogoDesign is essentially a logo generator. You type in your business name and industry, and the generator produces a generic logo for your business. For some, it may be possible to use the service and add a few tweaks to create a usable logo. You can download the low-resolution version of your logo for free, but you’ll need to spend $39 in order to have the high-resolution option. If you initially plan to only launch online, you might be able to use the free low-resolution logo on your website and social media channels to get started without having to spend a dime. Freelogodesign.org

Logogenie is another logo generator, but the designs are a bit less generic than those on FreeLogoDesign. Logogenie’s starter pack of logos is $24.90, but add-ons and additional orientations can cost $6 up to $120. Again, depending on the aesthetic you want for your business, it may be possible to design it with this service and not pay a significant amount of money – but if you do need multiple orientations and colors of logos, you might end up spending a lot on logos from Logogenie. Logogenie.com

Placeit is another logo generator but has some of the least generic designs available from one of these sites. One logo costs $40, or you can create and download unlimited logos for $15 per month (or $100 per year). The monthly option is great if you want to be able to download your potential logo designs and see what they would look like on your website or in a business card design before committing to one. It also means you have the ability to go back and make tweaks to your logo if you need to – if you only pay for it once, you won’t have the option to edit it through the software later. Placeit.com

If you want a truly customized design for your business, and you know exactly how much money you want to spend – you might consider posting a job on Upwork. Upwork is a freelancing site that allows you to find professional designers who are willing to give you exactly what you want for the price you want to pay. You can ask to see samples of their work before you hire a specific designer. Depending on how much you want to spend, you may end up working with a freelancer who doesn’t do any major revisions. This means that you could end up paying for a logo you hate. To avoid that, be sure to communicate the entire process with the freelancer upfront. Also describe what you want in as much detail as you can, showing examples of other logos that are similar, if possible. This will help you and the designer get on the same page quickly, so that you can get the logo you want for your business. Upwork.com

Browse through each of these sites to determine which route might be right for you. The first six will all allow you to at least preview or sample what your designs could look like. If you have a very specific idea in mind and aren’t able to find something on one of the generator sites or through Fiverr, consider turning to the more personalized approach of working with a freelance designer directly. When it comes to logos, quality does not have to cost a lot – and by spending less on your logo, you’ll have more money to invest in other parts of your business.
